Paulownia

Although the first Paulownia trees arrived in Europe from Asia in 1834, they are almost unknown in this country. It is worth taking a closer look at the unmistakable "bluebell trees". Because of their special characteristics, they are not only excellently suited for improving the macroclimate, but also for improving the microclimate.

Rapid growth

The Paulownie is a deciduous tree with a smooth bark. Its most important distinguishing features include its striking bell-shaped flowers with the distinctive blue colouring. The distinctive size of its leaves is also unmistakable. They can reach a diameter of up to 40 cm. This makes Paulownia one of the absolute top performers among the deciduous trees.

The height of the stem is in no way inferior to the size of the leaves. A fully-grown paulownia can grow up to 15 m high after 12 years. Its high growth rate is particularly noteworthy. It grows up to six times faster than a German oak. Furthermore, it develops very straight when cared for carefully, which makes it much easier to process.

Paulownia wood - Something very special

Thanks to the special characteristics of the tree species, Paulownia wood is becoming an increasingly popular alternative to tropical woods. This is due to its low weight, low flammability and its very high bending strength and static stability. The demand for this wood is increasing not only in the sports industry, but also in the production of musical instruments and furniture. This is especially true for the robust special breed Royal-treeme, which we have developed especially for planting and rearing in Europe.

The growth of the trees also means that the amount of wood is constantly increasing. A mass increase of 10-15% per year can be expected.
